About

My Allotment Challenge is a journal of my hopefully evolving adventure in growing food.  Here I will:

  • record what has been happening at my plot
  • share my plans and seek advice
  • keep the titbits of news and information that I gather along the way.

Beware:

  • I am not a horticulture expert – don’t expert advice just experiences
  • I can be a little gungho/haphazard in my gardening – don’t expect sound theories or schools of thought

A little disclaimer:  I am not in any way associated with the BBC’s Big Allotment Challenge.  I came up with the name for my blog before I even knew about this great show (yes, I am watching every episode!)  The name came out of setting myself a couple of challenges while I work out my next career step, itself a challenge.  This blog is in fact a combination of challenges: getting the allotment right, learning to blog and learning about social media.  When I work out how, and what, I will be changing the name of my blog.

Who am I?  I am a South African living in the UK, just south of Manchester with my partner and children.  I have a recurring habit of taking career breaks.  I’m on one now.
